Our houses in Tuscany are located near the little village of Settignano, overlooking the Arno river valley and the city of Florence.
In the same village Michelangelo was raised in a family of stone masons.
Settignano is a picturesque frazione ranged on a hillside northeast of Florence, Italy, with spectacular views that have attracted American expatriates for generations. The little borgo of Settignano carries a familiar name for having produced three sculptors of the Florentine Renaissance, Desiderio da Settignano and the Gamberini brothers, better known as Bernardo Rossellino and Antonio Rossellino. The young Michelangelo lived with a sculptor and his wife in Settignano—in a farmhouse that is now the "Villa Michelangelo"— where his father owned a marble quarry.
The houses were formerly part of the Farm of Villa Gamberaia and havekept that country atmosphere although Claudia, the owner and interior designer, has given them a contemporary and very personal twist retrieving from her life in Kenya and her ecofriendly approach to decorating.
Elle Décor dedicated one of its cover to her house.
Our offer, to whoever choses to stay, is focused mainly around the idea of "slow" tourism, trying to share with our clients, a maximum of 12, a "different" value to the concept of time.
They will experience the Tuscan way of living, the wonderful loss of time stirring fresh tomatoes in a brass pot while learning about the “life” behind each ingredient of the “ribollita”. These and more adventures will surprise our guests that nothing more simple than expanded time can make the difference to a holiday.
A frame to all this is the comfort of a luxurious and business like location: air conditioned, fast internet connection, swimming pool, bio-garden, Venetian floors, wooden ceilings, Jardin d'hiver. Claudia holds a special surprise for her guests: an exclusive tour into Villa Medici, in Fiesole, one of the most significant historical abode, that she owns and where she spent her childhood.
